Let’s do this (again)

So, it’s been a while. Which is unfortunate. But also - it’s an opportunity to reaffirm this blog as a place of thoughts.

So yay?

The problem was that at some point late in 2022 I realized the sidenotes got screwed up. Maybe it was around August, since that’s when I (formally) graduated from my MD/PhD and I wanted to announce it in a fancy blogpost. That “fancy” ended up causing a lot of technical troubles.

Paperesque Troubleshoot

I troubleshooted some issues with getting the sidenotes working again. It looks like my effort to add a clever sidebar timeline, and then embed it in a single new post, completely screwed up the build of the entire site. So I removed that post -> magically working again. Which reflects a certain lack of robustness, but I’ll just have to be careful as I try to extend Paperesque theme.

Speaking of, I’m going to jot some ideas that I want to integrate into my blog

  1. I went ahead and set up a github repo for the blog. This should make it much easier to revert to previous behavior. ↩︎

  2. I really want an interactive timeline along the left border. This would be for so many purposes, so having it set up asap is important. ↩︎

  3. Mastodon has been a fun place to build up community, especially given its robustness to capriciousness. I’d like to find a good way to integrate mastodon posts here as embeddings. ↩︎

  4. Ditto for Google Colab, which I’ve been using more and more as a “lab on the go” style effort. ↩︎

  5. I need to learn nodejs. For many reasons. So integrating nodejs into this blog would be a great way to do that. ↩︎
